Objetivo: Implementar un sistema de identificación para pacientes con alto riesgo de desarrollar UPP, ingresados en el Hospital Universitario Arnau de Vilanova y en el Hospital Universitario Santa María, de la localidad de Lleida.
Metodología: Se trata de una intervención dirigida a todos los pacientes que ingresen en el HUAV y el HUSM identificados como población de alto riesgo de UPP, en la que se pretende implantar una pulsera identificativa, de material hipoalergénico (sin látex); impermeable y resistente a tensiones y roturas.
La pulsera, de color blanco, presentará un espacio para la información identificativa y para dos pegatinas: una de color azul con las palabras R. Caídas y otra de color verde, R. UPP.
La pegatina de riesgo de UPP, se mantendrá puesta siempre que un paciente, ingresado en el HUAV o en el HUSM, sea valorado de alto riesgo (puntuación entre 8 y 15) mediante la escala EMINA.
Conclusiones: La introducción de una pulsera identificativa unificada, permite a los profesionales de la salud visualizar de manera más rápida a aquellos pacientes que obtengan una puntuación de alto riesgo de úlceras, un gran ahorro económico a ambos hospitales y a la vez ayuda a mejorar la comodidad en los pacientes.
Supone además un punto de apoyo para las guías del BPSO, haciendo más visible la importancia de la prevención de UPP.
Objective: Implementation of an identification system for patients with a high probability of developing Pressure Ulcers for the Hospital Universitario Arnau de Vilanova and the Hospital Universitario Santa María in Lleida.
Methods: The study/process involves all patients admitted in the HUAV and the HUSM that are identified as under high risk of developing Pressure Ulcers; the patients are given an identification bracelet made out of hypoallergenic materials (without latex) such that it would be impermeable and shock-resistant. The bracelet, which is white, holds ID information regarding the patient, as well as two tags that state that the patient is at risk of falling and/or developing Pressure Ulcers. The latter should always appear as long as the patient is considered under rick of developing said ulcers (between 8 and 15) on the EMINA scale.
Conclusion: The use of the bracelet allows health professionals to rapidly identify patients at a high risk of developing Pressure Ulcers, which in turn contributes to minimising expenditure in both hospital and to maximising comfort amongst patients. It could also be considered as a support for BPSO guides, helping Pressure Ulcer prevention gain visibility. |
