LOCUS –“Let’s Open Cities for Us” is an Erasmus Intensive Program that analyzes
the problems related to mobility and accessibility within historic centers characterized by steep complicated topographic sites and with important patrimonial inheritance. The interest resides
in solving accessibility in constructed environments where any intervention is object of most reluctant judgments. The aim is to improve the relationships between architecture and society: architects must design an environment suitable for all individuals equally; not only thinking
those with different capabilities as “special cases”, limiting them to special accesses, restricted spaces and alternative itineraries to reach their destinations. The objective of giving equal access regardless different people’s capacities and without attempting on the city’s heritage is to research on an intelligent architecture able to solve individual needs globally and conceive an accessible environment capable to stimulate all senses, able to provide the perception of beauty and harmony by everybody. |
