[ANGLÈS] This research project is about the reinforcement of pillars using what can
be considered as an old technique, the reinforced concrete jacket; with the aim
of proposing a new methodology of calculation and criteria of design that improve
the current ones.
The reinforcement with concrete jacket means to generate the lowest possible
affection to the structural assembly in order to give a clear and efficient
solution to the reinforcement. The basic approach consists on making a layer
of reinforced concrete to the support taking into account that the old pillar
has a resistance which will depend on its predeformation. In this way, it is pretended
to reduce the thickness of the reinforcement, which has been calculated
by avoiding the resisting capacity of the old pillar and giving criteria of design
to maintain the levels of security.
Before studying the method, it is done a critical review of the matter,
which is extended to other reinforcements of pillar techniques with different
solicitation stresses. It has been done in this way because it helps situate the
method in the casuistry existing in the supports pathology and allows revise
(and know) concepts that are common to the different techniques of reinforcement.
Afterwards, the bases of the proposed method of calculation are presented,
as well as examples of the results after using this methodology in comparison
to the current one. As it has been said before, the analysis of an existing support
that is reinforced later has, different to a pillar from a new building site,
a previous component of deformation, due to the history of loads to which the
pillar has had supported. The nucleus (old pillar) of the reinforced section has
been affected in the most part of cases with a preload that at least will correspond
to itself weight and to the death loads of the existent structure. In this
documents it is studied the effect in the resistant response of the reinforced
pillar this previous action, which rarely can be avoided (unless we resort to the
unload using the active underpinning with hydraulic cats). Finally, the conclusions of the use of this proposed methodology are presented,
and all the examples, as well as the appendix and the bibliography
consulted during this investigation. |
