This article has a twofold aim: on the one hand, to present an educational activity and, on the other, to analyse the use of karaoke in the music classroom for learning new songs and promoting strategies to encourage students to play a more active role. The method for this research work is based on two projects carried out by two different groups. One group studies songs by copying them; the other group learns the songs by means of karaoke. The process and the findings suggest that karaoke can be used as a motivating tool that boosts students’ confidence and let them pretend they are 'real famous singers'. However, the findings also show that karaoke is not the best resource for learning songs

El presente artículo tiene doble propósito: por un lado, exponer una actividad didáctica; por otro, analizar el papel del karaoke en el aula de música, para el aprendizaje de canciones y las estrategias que nos ofrece para fomentar el papel activo del alumnado. El enfoque metodológico, gira alrededor de dos propuestas de trabajo entre dos grupos diferenciados: uno trabaja las canciones por imitación, y el otro las aprende con el karaoke. Visto el proceso y los resultados finales, llegamos a la conclusión de que el karaoke, utilizado como soporte, es un elemento motivador y ayuda a los niños a tomar confianza en sí mismos, a 'sentirse como auténticos cantantes'. No obstante, se ha podido comprobar que no es la herramienta más adecuada para el aprendizaje de una canción
