espai destinat a corral.
orientades a Sud-Est i a Nord-Oest.
queden semi soterrats.
companyia.

ENGLISH: The end of degree paper I’m handing in is the study of the four edifications that are part of the main
nucleous of the country house named Santa Creu and which is located at the municipality of Navàs, in
Bages.
This is a previous study for a future project of rehabilitation, which is about the present state of the
edifications and the viability of the adequation as a house for daily life.
The group of buildings which is being studied is made of the house, two edifications destined for wine
production and a space that used to be a stable. The house is distribuited in three diferent floors:
ground floor, first floor and second floor. The wine’s spaces and the stable are located an ground floor.
The edifications are not separated and they were built in diferent steps and are located on the way
down of a hill. The buildings are perfectly adapted to the orography of the ground and the two most
important facades are oriented towards the south-east and north-west.
The construction of these buildings in various steps allows the existence of different constructive
systems. Unfortunately, we don’t have any kind of historical information that would let us know the exact
order of the construction, but it is true that by observing the facade of the building, we can have an idea
of how and in wat order this building was built.
Consequently we can assume that both the ground floor and the 1st floor are the oldest part of the
house, on one hand the walls are thick because they are double and they are filled with mud. And on
the other hand the horitzontal structure is barrel vault which was built in two different systems: one vault
made with Stone and the other vaults (at three of the empty spaces) built with double ceràmic brick.
The 1st floor has still the original walls and which were partially remade at the same moment in which
the 2nd floor started to be built. This would be the last step of this residential complex.
The construction of the 2nd floor was also the solution of the ceiling of the 1st floor, with wooden joists
and ceramic pieces leaning over the joists.
The vertical structure of the 2nd floor is made of simple Stone walls and two pilars.
The rooftop is made of wooden beams and ceramic slate.
The rest of the buildings are built with simple Stone walls and the rooftop is just like the house.
This paper is divided in two different parts.
The first part includes the descriptions of the system in which the house was built, the analysis of the
patology of the house in order to suggest a solution of structural consolidation.
The main problems can be found in the house and the most important is the warped of one of the walls
of the facade because the vault pushes it.
The deterioration of the materials caused by the time, the use of the spaces and the lack of construction
are the main reason of all these problems that we have mentioned.
Since the 70s there have been some interventions mainly to use the house as a farming spaces.
My intentions with this paper are: to stabilize the wall of the facade affected of the pushing of the vault;
the consolidation of the vaults and their suport; the formation of a new system of desing of the rootop of
the 1st floor and the infraestructure around the buildings which creates a way between the natural land
and the hence facade North-West and South-West, eliminating the present solution that has lesft half
buried spaces.
The second part of my paper includes a suggestion of Distribution for the use of the house of daily life.
My intention is that both 1st amd 2nd floor would be for daily life and the rest of the hose would be dor
farming use.
The part call Tines 1 would be part of the house and the other parts could be an extention of the house
or an independent residence.
My intention is to get the most of passive energy and I suggest taking profit of the orientation of the
buildings to make new entrances to get solar energy and achieve crossed ventialtions and take profit of
the high inertic of the closing walls of the buildins in order to put the isolation outside these walls.
Nowadays the house provides drinkable water to the village. My idea is to take part of the water of the
rain and reuse it and introduce renewable energies like solar energy and energy made of farming and
forest residues. |
