We analyze a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations describing the intracellular amplification dynamics of viral RNA genomes. The replication modes considered range between two extremes given by the so-called geometric replication (GR) mode and by the linear stamping machine replication (SMR) moide. We observe that the master sequences, if they extinct, vanish more rapidly while replication rate for both positive- and negative-sense mutant genomes is higher than error-free replication without observing any differences between the mode of replication. The highest influence of changes in mode of replication are in the skeleton of the dynamics of the model, the equilibrium points and their stability are sensitive to the variance of the mode of replication. The results are interpreted within the field of evolutionary dynamics of viral quasispecies. |
