Abstract:

A numerical simulation of the effects caused by bends in erbium-doped fibres is presented. The perturbation of the gain and amplified spontaneous emission has been analysed with a model of the evolution of the pump, signal and fluorescence powers, including the bending losses. The values of the curvature radius with no degradation of the characteristics of the amplifier have been studied for two different kinds of fibres. |
