The goal of this project is to study the viability of Bluetooth Low Energy as a timing system on a race event. This would be a complementary method to the RFID systems that are currently used on these sports events. This system has much lower complexity, only requiring a sensor for each runner and mobile phones as receivers. To check the viability of this system a simulator has been programmed in the Matlab software. It is based on a model that tries to be as close as possible to a real case. Using the simulator it will be possible to identify the capacity of the system and what kind of behavior have each configuration. Some characteristics that can be modified are advertising interval, packet data length, power transmission, etc. At the end, it will be possible to decide which configurations are valid and which are the most recommended. |
