RESUM
SUMMARY
This project intends to do the urban planning of Sant Feliu de Guíxols port. It is an
open, bad-defined space, with dispersed buildings with no interest from an architectural
point of view, except for an old industrial building that must be preserved as a witness
of the flourishing navy industry of the first half of the 20th century.
Taking the cultural and playful site’s testimony, where some of the shows of Porta
Ferrada’s Festival take place, and referring to its historical memory, I establish a
museum’s program focused on the Girona Region’s railway history in general and the
Carrilet (the ancient railway) in particular. At the same time, the existing building is
rehabilitated so that it may be used as a sea terrace and a terminal site for the cycle
path.
I have urbanized the outer spaces creating several viewpoint balconies and ramps that
connect all the buildings together and with their surroundings. At the heart of the
proposal, I have designed a big square that may be used as an outer stage of the
museum’s auditory.
The process of design has focused on the search of the site’s vector lines (Genius Loci
in Peter Zumthor’s Architecture) by working with 3D manual models developing the
forms in an iterative process to relate them with the surroundings and fulfilling the
program. |
