The introduction of robotics in Kindergarten and Primary education has been an innovative
project launched by the Noguera’s Teacher Recsources Center (CRP) during the course 2013-
14. As a first step for this daring bet on teaching Coding and Robotics to kids, educational robot
kits have been bought to be taken on a loan. The CRP has also provided the teachers with
training and methodological advice. In this context an exploratory study will be conducted
following a mixed methods research to contribute added value to the initiative, always
highlighting the pedagogical dimensions in the new curriculum framework. First, an analysis on
the presence of educational robotics in Pre-Primary and Primary curriculum is carried out.
Additionally, a questionnaire is designed to know teachers’attitudes and beliefs towards the
introduction of robotics in the classroom and if they make use of.Taking into account the
bibliographic research, the questionnaire results, the experts’ opinion on this subject and the
analysis of the actions undertaken by the CRP –the teachers’training and the gathering of
learning activities in the classroom-, the communication reflects on the initiative and proposes
actions adapted to the local environment and specific circumstances in order that robotics can
be naturally and progressively integrated into the compulsory curriculum. In order to achieve
this goal, teachers will be provided with methodological strategies and educational materials
available to every single student in the inclusive educational framework. |
