dc.description.abstract	Electrificationsystemsbasedonrenewableenergyhaveprovensuitableforprovidingelectricity autonomouslytoruralcommunities.Amongthetechnicaloptionsavailable,windsystemsare increasinglygettingattention.InthenorthernmountainsofPeru,at3800m.a.s.l.,threecommunity wind electrificationprojectshavebeenimplemented.Thetechnicalsolutionsusedineachprojectare different:windvs.hybridphotovoltaic-windsystems;individualequipmentvs.microgrids.Thisstudy aims todescribe,evaluateandcomparethesethreesmall-scalecommunitywindelectrification projects.Theevaluationofthethreeprojectswascarriedoutbycomparingpreviousandpresent scenario;attentionhasbeenfocusedonprojectdesignandtechnicalaspects,socio-economicimpacts and sustainabilityandmanagementmodel.Thesethreeexamplesshedlightonboththeadvantages and disadvantagesofdifferenttechnologicaloptionsaswellasonappropriatecommunity-level managementmodels
