During last years, many tunnelling projects which are carried out in Chile use the EFNARC panel test for the quality control of sprayed concrete. However, this test needs large and heavy specimens, which are filled when the concrete is sprayed, and does not allow testing the concrete actually placed. By contrast, the Barcelona test is an indirect tension test which has shown to be adequate for quality control of fiber reinforced shotcrete in tunnelling works due to their simplicity and ease to perform, the use of a small specimen with high fracture surface and the low scatter of results. In this paper, the energy absorption capacity of fiber reinforced shotcrete determined using EFNARC panel test is correlated with the energy dissipated in Barcelona test, with the aim of using this test as a control in tunnelling works. |
