The purpose of this investigation is to analyze how the apocalypse/nmanifests itself as an intimate phenomenon, considering two examples of contemporary cinema on the subject: Melancholia (Lars von Trier, 2011) and Take Shelter (Jeff Nichols, 2011). The study comprehends catastrophe as a/nreflection of the individual's internal collapse and focuses on the limits between/nthe character's symbolic universe and objective reality. To get to the bottom of/nthe apocalypse as the deconstruction of the individual, we will examine the/ntensions between the internal and external spaces structured in the movies. |
