La accesibilidad es un requisito fundamental para cualquier servicio (multimedia). Este artículo presenta las contribuciones del proyecto europeo ImAc, que explora cómo integrar eficientemente servicios de accesibilidad y tecnologías asistivas en el ámbito de los medios inmersivos, centrándose principalmente en vídeo 360º y audio espacial. En primer lugar, se describe la metodología centrada en usuario adoptada en el proyecto, formado por un consorcio inter-disciplinar. En segundo lugar, se presenta la plataforma extremo-a-extremo siendo desarrollada en el proyecto, manteniendo la compatibiliad con las plataformas e infraestructuras broadcast actuales, así como con las tecnologías y estándares existentes. En particular, se está desarrollando la tecnología necesaria para aumentar los servicios broadcast tradicionales con contenidos inmersivos accesibles proporcionados via broadband. El artículo concluye con una breve descripción de los pilotos planificados, así como de los escenarios y evaluaciones consideradas.

Subtitles are the most common and versatile access media service across platforms, languages, and technologies. Subtitles, which traditionally were between languages, have now expanded to same language subtitles, subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing, and verbatim transcriptions. The production of subtitles has also changed greatly from the manual production with a subtitle editor, to respeaking, stenography, velotype, and the many possibilities offered by machine translation and crowdsourcing. Subtitles can be read on the main or on a secondary screen, in a wearable, as the mobile phone, intelligent glasses or a head mounted device for XR (eXtended Reality) environments. Finally, subtitles can become a hybrid access service when are generated with Easy-to-Read guidelines, or are read aloud. This last case is the objective of study in this article: spoken or audio subtitles (AST).&#13;
In the first section, an introduction will serve as a state of the art regarding audio subtitle literature in the field of Audiovisual Translation or Media Accessibility. Most research has focused at audio subtitles for movies from a descriptive approach, with a growing interest in multilanguage movies. Little has been written regarding the technology towards the generation of audio subtitles and the many workflows allowing for a versatile audio subtitle service in many presentations. This will be the content of the second part of the article. After looking at some possible use cases, it will look at existing solutions for three very different situations. The third part of the article will summarise existing requirements looking to widen the use cases, taking advantage of existing technology. The final section will look at possible future applications, and avenues for research.

In this paper we present our results from a research project on multicamera HbbTV applications, the TV-RING project, and situate these results as part of a broader push towards the development of innovative media experiences for TV audiences. The main lessons learned in the framework of this project are outlined, with special attention paid to principles of usability, insights on the user experience, and recommendations for the selection of multicamera content. These results were generated as the output of a user-centered design and experimentation process, involving requirements elicitation, iterative prototyping and large-scale live pilots. Finally, we sketch how immersive media can address current issues as regards the user experience raised by TV-RING, and introduce related ongoing work in the ImmersiaTV project on broadcast omnidirectional video.

Virtualisation is playing a fundamental role in the evolution of telecommunication services and infrastructures, bringing to rethink some of the traditional design paradigms of the mobile network and enabling those functionalities necessary for supporting new complex ecosystems where multiple actors can participate in a dynamic and secure environment. In Small Cell enabled Mobile Edge Computing deployments, the impact of virtualization technologies is significant in two main aspects: the design and deployment of the telecommunication infrastructure, and the delivery of edge services. Besides, the adoption of virtualization technologies has implications also in the implementation of Self Organizing Network (SON) services and in the enforcement of Service Level Agreement (SLA) policies, both critical in the automation of the delivery of multi-tenant oriented services in such complex infrastructure. From the work performed by the H2020 SESAME project, the beneficial use of virtualization techniques emerges in adding network intelligence and services in the network edge. SESAME relays on virtualization for providing Small Cell as a Service (SCaaS) and per operator Edge Computing services, consolidating the emerging multi-tenancy driven design paradigms in communication infrastructures.
