[ANGLÈS] The fibre reinforced concrete is a material used in a wide range of applications, such as road pavements, pipes, slope protection or shotcrete tunnel lining, where the concrete is not required a high structural responsibility. However, the inclusion of the flexural behavior characterisation in several international references and the various studies conducted to represent the behaviour of the fibre reinforced concrete enable the proposal of structural designs where the fibres have a more structural responsibility. In this sense, the application of fibre in concrete for structural applications such as vaults, in particular steel fibres, requires a flexural tensile strenght; simultaneously, the fibres contribute to the crack control, improving the durability of the structural elements. The assessment of the conditions of the vault, which includes the specification of the implementation process, the choice of the geometry and the parameters characterising the backfilling, along with the analysis of the structural behavior, where the surrounding soil contributes to the resistance of the structure, allows to determinate the response of the structure and the design. This whole study of the concrete arch, added to the properties of the steel fibres, suggest that this is a product where the total or partial replacement of the conventional reinforcement can positively affect the structural element. The purpose of this master’s thesis is to analyse the viability of steel fibers in order to replace totally or partially the reinforcement bars in precast concrete arches. Therefore, limitations and criteria can be set for the appropriate application of the fibres in the vault. For carrying out the analysis, firstly it is checked the suitability of using fibres from a mechanical point of view. The steel fibre reinforced concrete section is analysed using the stress-strain diagram proposed by RILEM TC 162-TDF that describes the tensile behaviour of the material. This analysis is the first step to determine the content of fibres needed to resist design forces. Microsoft Excel is used to resolve de rectangular sections and obtain the relation between the content of fibres and bending and axial force at a ultimate limit state. Finally, an economic criteria evaluation is carried out for fibre reinforced concrete vaults taking into account the advantages presented in materials, manpower, manufacture and installation, durability, safety and pathologies associated with construction.

[CASTELLÀ] El hormigón reforzado con fibras es un material usado en un amplio abanico de aplicaciones, como pueden ser firmes de carretera, tubos de saneamiento, protección de laderas o revestimento de túneles de hormigón proyectado, donde no se requiere al hormigón una elevada responsabilidad estructural. Sin embargo, la inclusión de la caracterización del comportamiento a flexotracción en varias referencias internacionales y los distintos estudios realizados para representar el comportamiento fenomenológico del hormigón reforzado con fibras posibilitan la propuesta de diseños estructurales donde las fibras adquieran mayor responsabilidad estructural. En este sentido, la aplicación del hormigón con fibras en las estructuras abovedadas, y en particular fibras de acero, requiere cierta capacidad resistente de las fibras a flexotracción; a la vez, éstas contribuyen a un mejor control de la fisuración, logrando mejorar la durabilidad de los elementos estructurales. La evaluación de los condicionantes de las bóvedas triarticuladas que engloba la especificación del proceso de ejecución, la elección de su geometría y los parámetros que caracterizan el terreno, junto con análisis del comportamiento estructural, donde el terreno juega un papel importante en la misión resistente, permiten determinar la respuesta de la estructura y su dimensionado. Este estudio integral de la bóveda de hormigón, sumado a las propiedades aportadas por las fibras de acero, llevan a pensar que ésta sea un producto donde la sustitución total o parcial de la armadura pasiva tradicional por fibras pueda repercutir favorablemente en el elemento estructural. Esta tesina pretende analizar la viabilidad de las fibras de acero con el objeto de armar o reforzar el hormigón en los arcos prefabricados. De este modo puede establecerse limitaciones y criterios para la adecuada aplicación de las fibras en la bóveda definida. Para abordar este análisis, primero se verifica la idoneidad del empleo de fibras desde un punto de vista mecánico; se realiza el análisis de la sección de hormigón reforzado con fibras de acero empleando la ley constitutiva tensión-deformación propuesta por RILEM TC 162-TDF que describe el comportamiento a tracción del material. Este análisis es el paso previo para la determinación de la cuantía de fibras necesaria para resistir los esfuerzos de diseño que solicitan las secciones. Para resolver el cálculo seccional de secciones rectangulares se emplea el programa Microsoft Excel realizando hojas de cálculo que permiten relacionar la dosificación de fibras y las solicitaciones normales últimas resistidas. Finalmente, se evalúa económicamente la propuesta de las bóvedas de hormigón reforzado con fibras tomando en consideración las ventajas presentadas en cuanto a materiales, mano de obra, proceso constructivo, durabilidad frente agresiones físicas o químicas, seguridad y patologías asociadas a la construcción.
