Abstract:

Efficiency and safety issues are highly related to the management of the ventilation system in underground mining. This paper presents the design of a geographical information system –also known as GIS– able to store, manipulate and administrate underground environmental datain a long term. Two important conditions have been taken into account to create the database: the location where the measures have been taken and the fact that the evolution of the underground workings can change the layout of the ventilation system. The geographic information system has given insight intothe working conditions and where are the most critical places concerning the gas concentrations, temperatures and airflow in a case study.Determining the impact of the airflow recirculation in the different working faces. |
