This project is about indoor positioning with BLE. The main objective is to analyse and develop several algorithms to reduce the error in indoor BLE positioning. |

There is a current high interest in the development of indoor positioning systems by using wireless technologies such as BLE. The main challenge that these type of systems impose, is how to mitigate the multipath effects in indoor environments. The goal of this Project was to demonstrate that the use of frequency diversity allows to mitigate these effects. Therefore, we performed a detailed analysis of the RSSI behaviour of the three BLE advertisement channels and these results were compared to the performance of the RSSI when frequency diversity was used. The analysis was performed in different environments to show that the results were consistent and could be extrapolated. Our conclusions show that by using frequency diversity we can attenuate the multipath effects and therefore it is possible to improve the accuracy in the position calculation. We also showed that it is feasible to implement a low power consumption and low cost positioning system with the use of SensorTags. |
