resistencia a fisuración.
aditivo. |

The RAP is defined as the asphalt pavement that has fulfilled its useful life that
has been milled or extracted and then crushed, and its properties are based on
several factors such as: the type of asphalt from which it comes, the
methodology used in its extraction, the layer of the pavement that was extracted
from, or, the project from which it comes, which generally produces a
heterogeneity in the material, implying some significant variations in the quality
of the aggregates, content and type of adherent binder, which can influence the
homogeneity of the final blend, especially when the RAP is used in high
percentages.
The use of recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) in bituminous mixtures is
increasingly popular because of the economic and environmental benefits of the
recycled materials. However, the more rigid mixtures resulting from the addition
of RAP have increased concern over the long-term properties of the pavement;
therefore, precise mechanical evaluation of these mixtures is required. This
thesis investigates the effect of the mixing condition on bituminous mixtures with
RAP. The volumetric and mechanical properties are analyzed. After analyzing
the criteria used in other countries, and following the respective
recommendations, a series of tests have been planned in the Laboratorio de
Caminos de la U.P.C. in order to study the characteristics of the different
recycled bituminous mixtures. Tests will be made to measure the rigidity
modulus, water sensitivity and cracking resistance. For the last property
mentioned, the Fénix test was used, since it has proved to be a practical and
efficient method to characterize the breaking behavior of bituminous mixtures at
different temperatures.
The results obtained in this research are presented for mixtures containing 60%
RAP, with different combinations of variables: virgin aggregate temperature and
RAP and mixing time, as well as a comparison with a new reference mixture
without RAP.
Due to the high probability that a mixture containing 60% RAP will be aged, a
few more series will be made, adding a rejuvenating additive. |
