L’article consta de dues parts ben diferenciades: en la primera s’analitza l’abast conceptual de la normativa fonètica, es descriuen els centres codificadors, els referents normatius i els criteris de codificació que s’han utilitzat per construir la normativa fonètica del català, així com les iniciatives que s’han desenvolupat per complementar i adaptar la norma fonètica a necessitats concretes dels usuaris de la llengua; també s’analitzen diversos estudis de sociofonètica amb la finalitat de descriure tendències generals en l’ús fonètic, social i dialectal del català, que han de ser a la base de qualsevol proposta normativa. En la segona part de l’article es presenten els resultats d’un estudi pilot sobre l’impacte de la normativa fonètica en cinquanta-quatre catalanoparlants provinents de Lleida, Barcelona i Girona, que s’han sotmès a una prova de producció i a una altra de valoració subjectiva de diversos fenòmens fonètics. Els resultats obtinguts han permès observar quatre comportaments diferenciats: 1) consciència i/o assimilació de les propostes normatives, 2) manca de consciència del que diu la norma o rebuig implícit de la normativa, 3) dubtes al voltant de la normativa i 4) autovaloracions de la normativa. L’estudi pilot permet corroborar la idea que la normativa de la llengua catalana ha d’apostar per integrar la variació fonètica i dialectal de la llengua.
This article is comprised of two distinct parts. The first one analyzes the conceptual scope
of the phonetic rules. It describes the codifying centres, the normative referents, and the codification criteria that have been used to construct the phonetic rules of Catalan. It also describes the initiatives that have been carried out to complement and adapt the phonetic rules to the concrete needs of the language users, and it analyzes different sociophonetic studies with the aim of describing general trends in the phonetic, social, and dialectal use of Catalan, which have to be at the basis of any normative proposal. The second part of the article presents the results of a pilot study on the impact of the phonetic rules on 54 Catalan speakers from Lleida, Barcelona and Girona, who have undergone a production test and a test on subjective evaluation of different phonetic phenomena. The results obtained have allowed
for the observation of four differentiated behaviours: 1) awareness and/or assimilation of
the normative proposals, 2) lack of awareness of what the rules say or implicit rejection of the rules, 3) questions concerning the rules, and 4) self-assessments of the rules. The pilot study corroborates the idea that the Catalan language rules have to aim at integrating phonetic and dialectal variation in the language into them. |
