La lactància materna és la forma ideal d’aportar als infants els nutrients que necessiten per un creixement i desenvolupament saludables. Organismes oficials com l’OMS, l’Acadèmia Americana de Pediatria i l’Associació Espanyola de Pediatria recomanen l’alimentació amb lactància materna exclusiva durant 6 mesos i com a alimentació complementària fins als dos anys. La lactància materna de la pròpia mare però, sovint no es troba a l’abast dels nadons preterme ingressats en les UCI Neonatals. En aquest cas existeix actualment l’evidència sòlida que demostra que la llet materna de banc pasteuritzada és la millor alternativa per a aquests nadons ja que ofereix una forta protecció contra infeccions i s’associa a una menor incidència de malalties com l’enterocolitis necrosant. Els Bancs de Llet Materna són dispositius sanitaris encarregats de l’obtenció de llet humana a fi de recollir-la, processar-la, emmagatzemar-la i distribuir-la als nadons preterme que precisin aquest producte biològic. Aquests dispositius, però, no podrien realitzar la seva funció si cada any milers de dones de les diferents comunitats autònomes del nostre país no donessin voluntàriament llet materna. Actualment la taxa de nadons amb prematuritat extrema (receptors de la llet materna de banc) s’ha situat en un 11,6% del total dels prematurs, un 9’4% més que l’any anterior. És per aquest motiu que es necessiten crear noves estratègies per informar i per promocionar la donació de llet materna, per tal de que més dones s’uneixin de forma solidària i voluntària a aquesta causa.
Breastfeeding is the ideal way to provide children with the nutrients they need for healthy growth and development. Official agencies such as WHO, the American Academy of Paediatrics and the Spanish Association of Paediatrics recommend the feeding with exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months and as a complementary diet up to two years. Mother's breastfeeding but, often, it is not available to preterm infants enrolled in the NICU. In this case, there is solid evidence that pasteurized breast milk is the best alternative for this baby since it offers strong protection against infections and is associated with a lower incidence of diseases such as necrotizing enterocolitis. The Banks of Human Milk are sanitary devices in charge of the obtaining of human milk in order to pick it up, to process it, to store it and to distribute it to the infants, prefer to require this biological product. These devices, however, could not perform their function if, every year, thousands of women from the different autonomous communities in our country do not voluntarily give their mother milk. At present, the rate of babies with extreme prematurity (recipients of breast milk) was at 11.6% of the total number of preterm infants, 9.4% more than in the previous year. That is why it is necessary to create new lines to inform and promote the donation of breast milk, so that more women will be united in a voluntary way to this cause. |
