Construction is considered one of the sectors with the greatest impact on the
economy of the Dominican Republic. All the growth and creation of the country's
infrastructure depends on it. Despite this, the Dominican construction system lacks
constructive solutions, a clear example being formwork systems. In most constructions
the formwork is made of wood as a container and structural element of the formwork.
This type of solution does not have the necessary technology to be an optimal, safe,
resistant system with a long service life.
On the other hand, the Dominican construction system, at present the construction
system in Spain has wood as a container element and steel as a structural element for the
formwork. This allows this constructive solution to be a system with a greater degree of
optimization, technology, safety and long life. Undoubtedly this formwork system is a
model for the Dominican Republic.
In the present project a previous investigation was carried out where it is defined
that they are the formwork, types of existing formwork, their materials, etc. After that a
thorough investigation of the formwork system most commonly used in the Dominican
Republic, which is the traditional formwork system was performed. Due to the fact that
this system has many deficiencies, the same research was carried out for the traditional
formwork system in Spain. In this way both systems can be compared to identify and
analyze which points can be improved in the Dominican formwork system. This
comparative analysis was carried out through a multicriteria matrix analysis with the
Expert Choice tool. It should be noted that the weighting values and the computer tool
were adapted to the reality of the context in which both formwork systems are developed.
Finally, within the values obtained by the Expert Choice, we have that the Spanish
formwork system exceeds by 56.8% the Dominican formwork system. These values are
due to the deficiencies of the formwork system in the Dominican Republic. Then a
sensitivity analysis was performed with the same data from the multicriteria matrix, but
changing the weighting values of the Dominican formwork system, these values were
changed in the hypothetical case that this system had the same constructive solutions of
the Spanish formwork system, but without changing the reality of the professionals in the
construction area of the Dominican Republic. In the results obtained by the sensitivity
analysis we can see that the Dominican formwork system obtained 43.6%, this means that
it would improve by 22%. Finally, the creation of an improvement proposal for the
Dominican formwork system was made, this would help to reduce the time of
construction processes, accidents and occupational hazards. In this way the Dominican
formwork system would approach an ideal and optimal system. |
