Waddensea is a Unesco World heritage area unique in the world due to its natural wealth. Groningen Seaports is the company which operates the two harbo r s in the Waddensea area. Since they are aware of their environmental responsabilities, one of the main objectives of Groningen Seaports is to preserve this natural reserve as much as possible through sustainable practices. consequently, Hanzehogeschool was involved in order to figure out how sensor technology can support environmental monitoring in Waddensea area. the concept presented in this project implies the creation of a multipurpose sensor station, which could be located in Waddensea area and used for various environm ental monitoring purposes, starting with focus of noise pollution. |
