El comte Pere d'Urgell (1348-1408) i les pintures murals de Sant Miquel de Montmagastre (Artesa de Segre. Lleida)

Abstract

El presente trabajo supone una aproximación a las pinturas murales de la iglesia de Sant Miquel de Montmagastre (Artesa de Segre, Lleida), un conjunto arrancado y traspasado a un nuevo soporte en 1958, hoy conservado en el Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (inv. 66133, 67401 i 67402). El estudio, a parte del pertinente análisis iconográfico y estilístico, efectúa una interpretación de los emblemas heráldicos que decoran la parte baja de las pinturas, lo cual ha permitido descubrir que sus promotores fueron los condes de Urgell, Pere d’Urgell (1348-1408) y Margarida de Montferrato (1375-1408).

This study represents an approach to the murals of the church of Sant Miquel de Montmagastre (Artesa de Segre, Lleida), that were transferred to a new support in 1958 and now preserved in the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (inv. 66133, 67401 i 67402). The study, apart from the iconographic and stylistic analysis, makes an interpretation of the heraldic emblems that decorate the bottom of the paintings, which has led to discover that the promoters were the counts of Urgell, Pere d’Urgell (1348-1408 ) and Margarida de Montferrato (1375-1408).
