Estudi de la flora exòtica del riu Segre al seu pas pel Segrià. Origen i potencial invasor

Abstract

A causa del greu impacte ecològic i econòmic de la flora exòtica invasora als ecosistemes, i a la major susceptibilitat dels hàbitats riparis a les invasions biològiques, és important mantenir un coneixement actualitzat sobre quines espècies exòtiques alberguen els ecosistemes riparis de les nostres contrades. El present estudi se centra a caracteritzar florísticament i funcionalment la flora exòtica present al riu Segre al seu pas pel Segrià. Els resultats demostren una presència notable de flora exòtica als hàbitats riparis del Segre, amb un domini de les espècies provinents del continent americà, que van ser introduïdes com a males herbes de cultius i com a flora ornamental. Aquests resultats demostren la necessitat d’actuació tant en el camp de l’agricultura com en el de la jardineria per evitar l’expansió d’espècies invasores pel riu Segre.

Due to the negative impact of the invasive alien plants on the ecosystems, and the higher susceptibility of riparian habitats to be invaded, it is important to know the current extent of the alien plant establishment in the local riparian habitats. Our study is focused on the floristic and functional description of the exotic flora present at the Segre river in the Segrià county. Results show that there is an important presence of alien flora in the riparian habitats, with a dominance of plants from the American continent, which where introduced as a weed or with an ornamental purpose. These results show the need of a management change both in agriculture and in horticulture to prevent the expansion of invasive species along Segre river.
