Nuevas tecnologías y victimización sexual de menores por online grooming

Abstract

Se considera que la generalización del empleo de las tecnologías de la información ha supuesto un incremento de la victimización sexual de menores. De acuerdo con esta opinión, no confirmada aquí, conductas como la solicitud sexual online de menores, usualmente emprendidas por adultos desconocidos offline por los menores, se realizarían más en la actualidad que en el pasado reciente. En este trabajo se presentan los resultados de una investigación cuantitativa realizada con una muestra de 489 estudiantes de secundaria en Cataluña. En él, además de determinarse la tasa de victimización de los menores por este tipo de conductas, se establece el perfil de las víctimas y de los ofensores. Junto a ello, se analiza la dinámica de estos procesos, la interacción víctima-ofensor, el nivel de afectación que estas conductas tienen en las víctimas y la forma en que se pone fin a la situación.

It is considered that the widespread use of information technologies has led to an increase of sexual victimization of children. According to this opinion, not confirmed here, behaviours like online sexual solicitation of children, usually engaged by adults who are offline unknown by the victimized children, would be more common nowadays than they were in the recent past. In this paper we show the results of a quantitative research carried out with a sample of 489 secondary school students in Catalonia. As well as determining the child victimization rate through this type of conducts, the victim and offender profile is also established. Along with this, the dynamic of these processes, the victim-offender interaction and the degree of impact that these conducts have on victims and the way in which the situation is ended are analysed as well.
