Research question: Does the practice or avoidance of co-sleeping arrangements have any kind of benefits for newborn children?
Aim: The main goal of this essay is to explore the relationship between cosleeping arrangement and the sudden death of infants through scientific evidence.
Methodology: Execution of bibliographical research without a specified year range through the following databases: Pubmed, Google Scholar, and Scielo. Only accessible clinical studies about co-sleeping, Infart sudden death syndrome and the maternal lactation to co-Sleeping practice relationship were chosen.
Results: 7 studies with a total of 1648 participants were included. Said studies argue that despite the fact that co-Sleeping arrangements benefit maternal lactation, it is not possible to confirm that co-Sleeping increases or decreases the risk of suffering sudden death infant syndrome.
Conclusion: All of the essays state that it is not possible to confirm that the practice of co-sleeping affects Infart sudden death syndrome. However, they all endorse that said practice favors maternal lactation, resulting in a protective effect over the infant in relation to sudden death. |
