Dans L’Homme de neige éhicule une certaine vision de l’idéal. Et cette vision s’exprime à travers le personnage de Christian Waldo. « Waldo est une manière d’homme idéal, tel que le roman sandien en décline patiemment les figures », nous dit Martine Reid (Reid 2005 : 19). Car derrière la figure de Christian se trouve l’évocation du fils de l’écrivaine, Maurice Sand.
