Abstract

Ensuring that learning outcomes align with employer expectations has always been a concern, but it is becoming more critical due to globalization, technological advancements, and diversity in student needs. This presents a challenge for universities to consistently develop learning strategies that contribute to competency acquisition. The research proposes a learning framework that integrates with the strategic plan of our organization to guide undergraduates in acquiring an expected level of relevant hospitality competencies. The framework involves a tailored process where students discover, reflect, and experience real-world situations to gain the necessary competencies. The study was conducted longitudinally on three cohorts, considering gender, cohort, and other job interest-related variables, to ensure all students reach the expected level of competencies. This approach helps universities develop strategies that align with employer expectations, provide students with practical experience, and ensure all students acquire the necessary competencies for success in their careers.
