As the TDS-1 and CYGNSS spaceborne GNSS-R missions progress, a large number of Delay-Doppler Maps (DDM) is being collected, from the land scattered as well as from the ocean. Based on those data, the feasibility study on the retrieval of land geophysical parameters such as soil moisture and vegetation is being studied. This work presents the E2E simulator that generates the synthesized DDM reflected over land. For the efficient development, the existing simulator for ocean scattering has been upgraded to accommodate the specific functionalities for land scattering: topography, surface roughness, vegetation effects, in addition to surface soil moisture, obviously. The developed end-to-end (E2E) simulator is used to conceive the retrieval algorithms and assess their performance. In this work, the upgraded items are described and illustrated with some simulation results. |
