Lope de Vega y el teatro francés del siglo XVII

Abstract

Se examina en el presente artículo la recepción de la obra, y más específicamente la obra dramática, de Lope de Vega en el teatro francés del XVII. Además de presentar un panorama completo y una descripción de las obras que se adaptaron, se propone una serie de observaciones de tipo metodológico relacionadas con la dificultad de definir un corpus textual en una época en que la práctica de la imitación no obedece a los estándares actuales. Por otra parte, se insiste en la necesidad de tomar en cuenta la construcción de cierta figura de autor en torno a Lope de Vega, considerado en Francia como máximo representante del teatro español en su conjunto.

This article discusses the reception of Lope de Vega's work, specifically of his dramatics compositions, in the French theatre of the XVII Century. As well as presenting the full picture and a description of those Lope's compositions that have been adapted, this article proposes some methodologic observations related to the difficulty of defining a textual corpus at a period when the practice of imitation does not obey the current standards. Moreover, it stresses the need to take into account the construction of a certain "figure of author" around Lope de Vega, who is considered in France as the highest representative of the Spanish theatre as a whole.
