VDES, la fusión del pasado y del futuro: Comunicaciones digitales para los VTS.

Abstract

El acrónimo en inglés VDES responde a: VHF Data Exchange System. Se presenta como un nuevo sistema de comunicaciones marítimas de alcance global, con mayor capacidad de transmisión y recepción, más seguro y fiable. Se fundamenta en el sistema AIS, el estándar ASM y un transceptor que permite intercambio de datos bidireccional en ondas métricas marítimas y un software. El incremento de banda y la combinación de tecnología digital, aumentarán las posibilidades de integración de nuevas aplicaciones que mejorarán las comunicaciones entre buque y buque y buque-tierra. Los VDES cumplirán y forman parte integrante del paradigma “e-Navigation” de la IMO que establece la necesidad de aplicar nuevas tecnologías digitales al sector marítimo y de manera armonizada para ofrecer “un transporte marítimo seguro, protegido y eficiente en océanos limpios”, como expresa el propio organismo de las Naciones Unidas.

The acronym VDES stands for: VHF Data Exchange System. It has been presented as a new global maritime communications system, with greater transmission and reception capacity, making it a more secure and reliable system. VDES is based on the AIS system, the ASM standard and uses a transceiver that allows bidirectional data exchange in maritime VHF with a software. The increase in bandwidth in conjunction with digital technology will increase the possibilities of integrating new applications that will improve communications between ship-ship and shipshore. The VDES will comply with, and form an integral part of, the IMO “e-Navigation” paradigm that establishes the need to apply new digital technologies in the maritime sector and, in a harmonious way, to offer “safe, secure and efficient shipping on in clean oceans”, as expressed by the United Nations body itself.
