Abstract

Treball de fi de grau en Traducció i Interpretació. Tutor: Damià Alou Ramis.

Contemporary narrative poetry faces certain prejudices concerning its alienation from the literary canon, and because it is not subjected to traditional norms of rhythm or form it is regarded as easily approachable. Hence, previous analysis and some form of methodology are often disregarded in the translation process. This paper outlines the poetic ouvre from authors such as T. S. Eliot, Philip Larkin, and Leopoldo María Panero. These three poets along with the punk movement draw a particular map of influences around the figure of Hera Lindsay Bird, and they contributed to the literary or musical renovation of their time that can be traced long before them and is still pertinent nowadays. Based on these reasons, a selection of ten poems from the self-titled book Hera Lindsay Bird will also be translated followed by an analysis in order to highlight the characteristics of her poetic style. With these translations it was evidenced that a poem or a set of poems dictate a specific method of interpretation that the translator should consistently be aware of.
