El projecte de reforma del mapa municipal de 1829 a les Balears

Abstract

EI mapa municipal balear és el resultat d'una Ilarga evolució que es caraderitza per una progressiva fragmentació: els 37 ajuntaments mallorquins del 1830 s'han convertit avui dia en 53. EI moment de máxima activitat segregacionista coincideix amb les primeres etapes constitucionals, peró en la década absolutista hi hagué un projecte en sentit absolutament contrari. Per encárrec del ministeri de Justícia, I'Audiéncia de Mallorca va haver de preparar un pla d'agregacions que reduia a 19 el nombre de municipis mallorquins. EI projecte va tenir I'oposició de I'Ajuntament de Palma i de la Societat Económica d'Amics del País.

The municipal map of Balearic Islands is the result of a long evolution that produced an increasing division. So, in Majorca, in 1830, there were 37 town councils; at the present this amount rises to 53. The segregationist movement was strongest in the first constitutional stages, but in the absolutist decade (1823- 1833) there was a project absolutely contrary. By commission of the ministry of Justice, the High Court of Majorca made an annexations plain in order to reduce the number of municipalities in the island down to 19. This project provoked the opposition of the Palma Council and of the Economic Society of Majorca
