Screening programs have helped reduce cancer-specific mortality by detecting cancer at earlier stages. Developing increasingly sensitive, organ-specific liquid biopsy assays to evaluate tumor-derived analytes could pave the way for non-invasive early cancer diagnosis in population screening programs.
