The present volume contains the notes prepared by the lecturers of the Advanced Course Compactifying Moduli Spaces, organized at the Centre de Recerca Matematica (Bellaterra, Catalonia) from May 27 to March 31, 2013. In recent years, moduli spaces have been investigated for their diverse applications to Algebraic Geometry, Number Theory, String Theory and Quantum Field Theory just to mention a few. In particular, the notion of compacti cation of moduli space has been crucial to solve various open problems and long-standing conjectures.
