La Institució CERCA és el mitjà propi i servei tècnic de l’Administració de la Generalitat de Catalunya per al seguiment, suport i facilitació de l’activitat dels centres de recerca del sistema CERCA.

Constituïda com a fundació el 16 de juny de 2010, té per missió garantir un desenvolupament adequat del sistema de centres de recerca català; afavorir i maximitzar les sinergies, la coordinació entre els centres i la cooperació estratègica; millorar el posicionament, la visibilitat i l’impacte de la recerca duta a terme i facilitar la interlocució amb els diferents agents públics i privats.
