Una aproximación a las definiciones, tipologías y marcos teóricos de la migración de retorno

Abstract

La migración de retorno es considerada como un caso especial de la migración, no obstante su estudio no es un tema sencillo, dependiendo del momento histórico y lugar de ocurrencia tiene especificidades que es necesario conocer pero también características recurrentes. El marco teórico de la migración internacional permite comprender las principales características y tipologías de la migración de retorno. En este artículo se examinan las diferentes formas en que ha sido definida y abordada así como el corpus teórico sobre la migración de retorno que aportan tres disciplinas sociales: la economía, la sociología y la demografía.

Return migration is considered a special case of a migration, however their study is not a simple issue, and depending on the historical moment and place of occurrence it has specificities that need to be known as well as their recurrent characteristics. The international migration provides an excellent framework that permit to explain the main characteristics and the principal typologies of return migration. This paper examines the theoretical background and the different ways that return migration has been defined from the point of view of three social sciences: Economics, Sociology and Demography.
