Publicacions científiques

L'IRTA és un institut d'investigació de la Generalitat de Catalunya, adscrit al Departament d’Agricultura, Ramaderia, Pesca, Alimentació i Medi Natural, regulat per la Llei 04/2009 de 15 d’abril,del Parlament de Catalunya, que ajusta la seva activitat a l’ordenament jurídic privat.

La finalitat de l’IRTA és contribuir a la modernització, a la millora i l’impuls de la competitivitat; al desenvolupament sostenible dels sectors agrari, alimentari, agroforestal, aqüícola i pesquer, i també dels directament o indirectament relacionats amb el proveïment d’aliments sans i de qualitat als consumidors finals; a la seguretat alimentària i a la transformació dels aliments, i, en general, a la millora del benestar i la salut de la població.

Els seus objectius generals són els d'impulsar la recerca i el desenvolupament tecnològic dins l'àmbit agroalimentari, facilitar la transferència dels avenços científics i valorar els avenços tecnològics propis tot cercant la màxima coordinació i col·laboració amb el sector públic i privat.

L'IRTA ha promogut, des de la seva creació, l'establiment d'acords permanents de col·laboració amb altres institucions públiques que actuen en l'àmbit de la recerca i desenvolupament tecnològic a Catalunya. Aquesta política ha donat com a resultat l'existència, avui dia a Catalunya, d'una xarxa de centres consorciats (entre l'IRTA, Universitats, CSIC, Diputacions, etc.) que pot definir-se com la d'un sistema cooperatiu d'R+D.
