The aim of this paper is to bring together two research areas, i.e. "Data Warehouses" and "Temporal Databases", involving representation of time. In order to achieve this goal, data warehouse and temporal database research results have been surveyed. Looking at temporal aspects within a data warehouse, more similarities than differences between temporal databases and data warehouses have been found. Therefore, this paper is focused on how contributions of the temporal database research could benefit data warehouses.
