Treball desenvolupat en el marc del programa "European Project Semester".
In deep sea underwater research, often rigid containers are used to encapsulate and protect the inside electronics. To conserve battery during the transportation of these containers, the battery is turned off up until deployment to the sea. These containers can be an unnecessary challenge to deploy at sea as they need to be opened up to be turned on. A team of 5 international students was selected to simplify this time consuming task. Instead of opening up the container or implementing an external switch, the team’s plan was to design a wireless remote pair to turn on and off the internal main computer, as well as collect humidity and temperature readings. In order to carry out this solution, the team needed to select the necessary hardware, program this hardware and also design the physical shell of the remote. No final product was constructed however all the pieces necessary were chosen, designed and subsequently programmed. Not enough time was allotted to order all of the pieces and assemble the product, but the remote is in working order.
