Abstract

The present research was conducted with the objective of elucidating the ways in which trans* identities inhabit within hetero-normative architectures in Latinxamérica. In order to determine the manner in which implicit yet oppressive architectural practices contribute to the violence these individuals encounter in their daily lives, five film case studies depicting their quotidian lives and settings were examined. Consequently, a graphical and descriptive analysis grounded in historical facts and gender theories was carried out on select clips from each film, which enabled the identification and documentation of some of the methods in question. In addition, an illustrative proposal for an architectural project was realized in order to demonstrate the implications of these findings.
