Abstract

[eng] The anthropology of images studies how we interact with and through images, understood not only as signs or representations but also as social agents endowed with, at least potentially, intense subjectivity. It furthermore analyses how people from different sociocultural spheres conceptualize and define images, whether material, bodily or mental, to use Belting’s (2011) terms. One of the critical issues the anthropology of contemporary images must address is that of false images, or, in other words, that of the visual fake.
