Topografies confuses : Ciutat com a escenari

Abstract

El terme “topografies confuses” contempla un seguit d’espais ambivalents de la ciutat contemporània exclosos de les categories tradicionals i de les guies turístiques : són els altres espais de la ciutat. Els espais residuals existeixen més per omissió que per intenció, però sovint són imprescindibles pel funcionament de la ciutat, o privilegiats pel fet de pertànyer a circuits alternatius. La investigació, de base teòrica i empírica, no pretén salvar aquests espais de les seves connotacions, sovint marginals. La insistència en fer un anàlisis profund i detallat entorn a una temàtica tan inestable podria semblar absurda, però l’esforç de classificar l’inclassificable és una pràctica reveladora, posant en valor els detalls i la relació dels ciutadans amb els espais. Qualsevol lloc de la ciutat pot pertànyer, en diferent grau, a les categories proposades.

The term "confusing topographies" contemplates a series of ambivalent spaces of the contemporary city excluded from traditional categories and tourist guides: they are the other spaces of the city. Residual spaces exist more by omission than by intention, but they are often essential for the functioning of the city, or privileged by the fact of belonging to alternative circuits. The research, with a theoretical and empirical basis, does not aim to save these spaces from their connotations, which are often marginal. The insistence on making a deep and detailed analysis around such an unstable subject might seem absurd, but the effort to classify the unclassifiable is a revealing practice, valuing the details and the relationship of citizens with spaces. Any place in the city can belong, to varying degrees, to the proposed categories.
