This contribution aims to present the Interpretative signs guideline for the dissemination of geology recently published by the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia. It is intended for those involved in the planning, design, installation, and maintenance of geological-themed panels. In an initial chapter, the manual addresses some preliminary considerations such as the parts of a panel, the type of supports, and the materials most used in this type of installation. It also discusses some challenges for the dissemination of geology and explores the difference between informative and interpretive panels. The core of the manual is dedicated to aspects to consider when creating an interpretive panel with geological content. Recommendations are made regarding its planning and the development of its textual and graphic contents. Examples of panels designed following the defined guidelines are also included. Although the publication focuses on informative panels about outdoor geological heritage, many of the reflections and indications can be applied to other themes and exhibition spaces in museums or nature interpretation centres
