dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
In this present paper, we want to present a new of the well-known amphora stamp M·(palm)·C, which was found in early 2020 on the coast of Tarragona, from a possible anchorage point or, much less probably, from a shipwreck sunked in this site. Taking advantage of this finding, we recover the State of the question about this epigraphic stamp and the amphora form with which it is associated, type Statio 48 from Ostia, represented in one of the mosaics of the piazzale delle Corporazioni in that city. The lack of recent studies making reference, has caused that the debate around the origin of the stamp and the amphora typology has slightly disappeared in recent years, although the state of question has not been concluded yet. For this reason, we want to present new hypotheses with which to continue the discussion about the origin of african amphorae type Statio 48.
