El objetivo de esta breve nota es ofrecer una interpretación complementaria de la presencia de pequeñas serpientes en el Ara Pacis Augustae : en opinión del autor, no es sólo decorativa, sino también simbólica, y está relacionada con la mítica fundación de Alejandría por Alejandro Magno.
The aim of this brief note is to offer a complementary interpretation of the presence of little snakes in Augustus’ Ara Pacis . It is not only decorative, but -in the author’s opinion- symbolic too, and related to the mythological foundation of Alexandria by Alexander the Great.
