Noves dades sobre la procedència del marbre romà de la torre del Telègraf o del Llamp de Girona

Abstract

El present escrit pretén aportar noves dades sobre la procedència extractiva dels blocs de marbre d’època romana reutilitzats en una torre quadrangular d’origen carolingi (Torre del Telègraf o del Llamp). La descoberta d’aquest ma-terial lapidi l’any 1988, continua sent un unicum per a la Gerunda romana, cons-truïda habitualment amb la sorrenca de Domeny-Taialà i/o de Can Guilana i la cal-cària nummulítica que aflora a l’entorn més immediat

This paper aims to provide new data about the origin of Roman marble blocks reused in a quadrangular Carolingian tower (Tele-graph or Lightning Tower). The discovery of this stinging material in 1988 is still a uni-cum for the Roman Gerunda, usually built with the sandstone of Domeny-Taialà or Can Guilana and the local limestone that flows into the immediate surroundings.
